  • Elementary Schools

    • Edna M. Fielder
      Fielder's dynamic instructional program is steeped in cooperative learning, intense reading programs, inclusion, and higher-level thinking skills. Interactive math and science programs are experience-based, incorporating hands-on process learning. The language arts/reading curriculum includes experiences that promote self-expression and love of reading, and bring out children's creative ability. Special grouping practices within the regular classroom at all grade levels enable teachers to provide for the varied individual differences including gifted students and those requiring additional reinforcement. For fourth and fifth graders who are capable of moving at a faster pace and need additional challenges, Fielder offers E-courses in math, language, social studies and science.
      Communication is a high priority. The state award-winning school newsletter, co-sponsored by the PTA and the school, is published each six weeks. Parents receive weekly updates and communications from teachers, as well as a 'Monday Memos,' which update parents on school activities. The EnterLink voice mail system allows immediate two-way communication between the school and parents. Each grade level conducts a Curriculum Night at the beginning of the school year, and individual grade levels sponsor one special emphasis night a year.
    • James Williams Elementary
      'Going the Extra Distance' is Williams' slogan for 2005-06. Students stay actively involved as they leave their own brand on many featured programs. The PTA and school work hand-in-hand to offer challenging activities such as the LASSO enrichment program, Reflections, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Exhibit, Accelerated Reader, Junior Achievement, Destination Imagination, Knowledge Master, reading and math parent volunteer programs, a hands-on science program, a 5th grade aerospace after-school class, book club, chess club, choir, safety patrol and 4th grade fishing club.
    • Rylander Elementary
      Rylander Elementary is committed to providing an excellent academic program where every child will have his or her individual needs met in a supportive, nurturing and safe environment. Inherent in this mission is the belief that every child can learn and the dedicated teacher is the catalyst.
      The staff, students, parents, and community of Rylander Elementary will work together to foster a positive relationship in order for each child to reach his or her fullest potential and attain the highest level of accomplishment.

  • Middle Schools

    • Cinco Ranch Jr. High
      Cinco Ranch Junior High flourishes on the philosophy that positive attitudes maximize opportunities for students. Coyote faculty and staff model enthusiasm, high energy and performance, and a high involvement in school activities. Students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Coaches, fine arts directors, and administrators coordinate schedules to allow students to be active in several programs. A dynamic intramural program provides an opportunity for 6th graders and non-varsity 7th and 8th graders to participate in a supervised sport competition after school. Junior Achievement is integrated into the instructional program in grades 6 and 7.

      Cinco Amigos welcome new students into our school in a personal manner to assure a smooth transition to a new school. Other clubs and co-curricular activities include: Academic Penthatlon, Art Club, band, cheerleaders and mascot, Chess Club, choir, Circle of Friends (works with Life Skills students), Coyote Chronicle (newspaper), Coyote Company (theatre arts club), DARE Role Models, Destination ImagiNation (problem-solving competition), French Club, History Club, Junior International Thespian Society, National Junior Honor Society, orchestra, pep squad, Reader's Circle, Robotics Club, Spanish Club, Student Council and yearbook.

      Parents respond to school needs by providing thousands of hours in support and leadership for a variety of programs.



    • Roger Ellen Beck Jr. High
      281-237-3300
      Named after longtime Katy educators Rodger and Ellen Beck, Katy ISD’s sixth junior high opened in 1996. Beck students have a strong academic focus as evidenced by some of the state’s highest TAKS scores.
      More than 16 percent of the students participate in the gifted and talented program. The school has an excellent fine arts department, which includes beginning instruction and advanced performing groups in orchestra, choir, band, theatre and art. Competitive athletic teams include volleyball, football, basketball, track, tennis and golf for seventh and eighth graders. Extracurricular activities include Destination ImagiNation, Academic Pentathlon, Student Council and National Junior Honor Society.
      BJH has an integrated technology program that spans all grade levels, requiring every core teacher to spend time in the computer lab presenting a course objective and a technology objective in tandem. Each year eighth graders are introduced to the world of work at a Career Fair and sixth graders participate in a campus International Festival. The seventh grade students participate in a College Education Preparatory unit, sponsored by the College Board
